CD138/syndecan-1 (B-A38) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody
Specialties: Hematopathology
Detection of CD138 in neoplastic plasma cells by immunohistochemistry (IHC) with CD138/Syndecan-1 (B-A38) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody may be used to aid in the diagnosis of plasma cell myelomas (multiple myelomas).
CD138, also known as syndecan-1, is a cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan that plays a role in the inflammatory response, including leukocyte recruitment and adhesion.1 CD138 is normally highly expressed in plasma cells as well as both simple and stratified epithelia.1 CD138 is also expressed in the neoplastic plasma cells of multiple myeloma.1-4 Immunohistochemistry for CD138 shows a membranous pattern of staining.
