CD31 (JC70) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody
Specialties: Hematopathology Soft Tissue Pathology
Detection of CD31 by immunohistochemistry (IHC) with CD31 (JC70) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody may be used to identify normal blood vessels and to aid in the diagnosis of hemangiomas, Kaposi sarcomas and angiosarcomas.
CD31, or platelet/endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1), is a vascular cell adhesion and signaling molecule that plays a role in maintaining the vascular permeability barrier at endothelial cell junctions. CD31 expression is seen normally in vascular and lymphatic endothelial cells as well as in hematolymphoid cells, including megakaryocytes, macrophages, monocytes, and plasma cells. CD31 expression is seen in tumors of vascular origin including hemangiomas, Kaposi sarcomas and angiosarcomas.1-4 Immunohistochemistry for CD31 shows a cytoplasmic and membranous pattern of staining.
